Cincinnati Public Schools Code of Conduct

1. Be Safe

Examples:
Obey rules and laws regarding use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
Choose peer groups that demonstrate safe, respectful and responsible behavior.
Obey the laws of the community.
2. Be Respectful
Examples:
Be respectful to all adults and peers.
Listen to and follow the directions of school staff.
Be respectful toward property.
Take care of school materials.
Demonstrate positive social skills.
Use polite words. (Please, thank you, you are welcome…)
Resolve conflict in a positive manner.

3. Be Responsible

Examples:
Bring or request needed materials.
Complete work on time.

Washington Park School's Rules and Procedures

Each child will assume responsibility for his or her own behavior. The school's discipline plan, classroom rules, as well as the "Cincinnati Public School's Code of Conduct" will be enforced.

School Wide Detention

Detentions for students who misbehave in class will be held in the cafeteria twice a week from 2:30 to 4:15 pm. Students who behave properly during detenion may be realsed early. Parents will be notified in writing by teachers which day thier child has been assigned to detention. Please make prior arrangements for any siblings.

Expected School Behavior

The following rules have been developed in order to maintain a safe and orderly environment during school hours.

  1. Report to school regularly, on time (7:45 a.m.) and prepared.
  2. Walk through the hallways quietly so the classes are not disturbed.
  3. Always walk on the right side of the hallway in a single file line.
  4. Carry all belongings in a safe manner.
  5. Use appropriate behavior and language at all times.
  6. Show respect to adults, fellow classmates, the building, and yourself at
    all times.

In-School Suspension Procedures

  1. There is no talking; students are only to speak when given permission by the ISS instructor.
  2. Students are to remain in their assigned seat.
  3. Students are to show and use their best behavior.
  4. Students are to follow directions the first time they are given.
  5. Students should always remain focused and complete all assignments.
  6. No eating in the ISS classroom.
  7. Students are to demonstrate respect at all times.
  8. Students may not cause any type of disturbance.
  9. Repeat offenders -conference will be held to dicuss alternate services.

In-School Suspension Consequences

  1. Verbal warning.
  2. Student will be assigned one extra day of ISS; a note will be sent home to notify parents.
  3. Referral to office; students will be sent home after parent contact, conference will be held with ISS instructor, possible out-of school suspension.
